Campus Update for Tuesday, February 13
Dear members of the Drew community,
Due to the winter storm forecasted to begin overnight, the Drew University campus will be closed to non-residential students and non-essential employees on Tuesday, February 13.
Monday afternoon and evening classes will occur as scheduled. On Tuesday, students should expect their classes to meet virtually. If this is not how you normally attend your classes, more information will be shared directly by your professors.
Non-essential employees will continue conducting business operations virtually.
Dining in The Commons will be open on its normal schedule. All other dining locations will be closed.
Resident students are advised to stay indoors during the storm. Should an emergency arise, please contact Campus Security at 973-408-3379.
Thank you for your cooperation. Please be safe!
Additional Information
In cases of inclement weather that necessitate closure of the University’s administrative offices, classes in the College of Liberal Arts, the Theological School, and the Caspersen School of Graduate studies will be canceled and the library and CNS Helpdesk will be closed. In the event of a delayed opening or early dismissal, a corresponding adjustment will be made to the day’s class schedule and library hours.
Declaration of a snow emergency will be made via email, voicemail and entrance signage. During a snow emergency, vehicles must be removed from all designated “No Parking During Snow Emergency” locations and moved to any available “Snow Emergency Parking” area. Failure to relocate will result in towing and any related monetary charges. Once these areas are clear of all snow and ice, Public Safety will notify the campus community and vehicles should return to the parking spaces.
- The primary locations for “Snow Emergency Parking” will be the Methodist Church lot and the Sitterly lot. Vehicles may only park in the Methodist Church lot during a snow emergency and must move back from both lots to the main campus when notified.
- “No Parking During Snow Emergency” locations are reflected on the attached map and include all road parking throughout campus, the lower part of the Main lot, and other smaller parking areas which are difficult snow removal locations. Please be aware of these designated areas and act appropriately when inclement weather is expected.
- If you have weekend plans or are leaving campus for an extended period of time, it is your responsibility to move your vehicle to the Tilghman lot. You must register your car with Public Safety for long term parking.
- The campus community may also be asked to relocate vehicles for periodic lot clearing. This is necessary to remove excess accumulations of ice and snow in long term parking areas.
- Again, vehicles in violation of this policy will be ticketed by Public Safety and towed at the owner’s expense.
