Welcome to the University Writing Center

The University Writing Center (UWC) offers one-on-one guidance for writing across disciplines at any stage in the writing process to all Drew University students in the College of Liberal Arts, the Caspersen School of Graduate Studies, and the Theological School. Our mission is to support students in their development as readers, critical thinkers, and writers so that they may succeed at Drew and beyond.

The Details

Writing Specialists work with you on idea development, structure, use of sources, style, grammar, and more. Because a session with a Writing Specialist is a dynamic and collaborative conversation, we are not a proofreading or editing service. Instead, we offer strategies and resources that writers can use as they compose, revise, and edit their own work.

To ensure that your session is as productive as possible:

  • Bring any assignment sheets, written instructions, or source materials
  • Have all ideas, outlines, and drafts ready to share
  • Schedule appointments early to allow time for revisions
  • Visit the UWC often and regularly

Our Writing Specialists are undergraduate and graduate students from a variety of majors and disciplines. All complete an extensive training program certified by the College Reading and Learning Association.

Scheduling an Appointment

All appointments are scheduled through  https://drew.mywconline.com/ . First-time users will need to register for an account with their Drew email. When logging in, please select the UWC from the Available Schedules.

Students can also drop by the center for a walk-in appointment. Walk-in appointments are only available if a Writing Specialist on schedule does not have an upcoming appointment. All appointments are 30-90 minutes or longer if requested.

All online-only Writing Specialists are By Appointment Only. If a BAO Writing Specialist does not have an appointment booked within 24 hours of the appointment time, the appointment time is removed from the schedule
