Drew University Remains a Top 10 School for International Student Enrollment

School ranks seventh in U.S. among baccalaureate colleges

November 2022 – Drew University has ranked seventh in the country for 2021-22 international student enrollment among baccalaureate colleges according to the most recent Institute of International Education (IIE) Open Doors report.

Drew’s 431 international students kept Drew in the nation’s top 10 for the fourth straight year. Drew is also once again the only New Jersey school on the 40-school list.

Other top 10 schools in the Leading Baccalaureate Colleges Enrolling International Students list were BYU-Idaho, BYU-Hawaii, Green River, Bellevue, Mount Holyoke, Missouri Valley, Denison, Smith, and Barnard.

“Our international students are vibrant and engaged members of our community and serve in all levels of our student clubs and organizations and bring depth to our academic programs and campus life,” said Frank Merckx, vice president of enrollment management and campus life.

“The Drew campus is perfectly suited for international students, with our programs in New York City and easy access to international airports, all while learning and living in one of the safest college towns in the country.”

Drew’s international enrollment efforts are bolstered by its INTO Drew University program, which creates a curated pathway to the school, and its International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) office, which offers academic support and assistance in transitioning to the overall collegiate experience.

“Drew’s partnership with INTO has helped the University build a global reputation for providing students with outstanding faculty mentorship and support in a rigorous learning environment that prepares students for academic success, exciting career outcomes, and admission to top graduate schools, both in the U.S. and globally,” said Laura Arthur, executive director of INTO Drew, who noted the popularity of Drew’s New York City semesters, unique science research opportunities, and Dual-Degree programs.

“With more than 50 countries represented, the entire Drew community benefits from the unique contributions our international students make every day in our classrooms and to the campus community.”
