More than 400 first-year students committed to the Class of 2027
May 2023 – Drew University is on the rise. At the end of National Decision Day on May 1, more than 400 first-year students had joined the College of Liberal Arts Class of 2027 as deposits, currently the largest cohort since 2018.
“We are extremely excited and proud to welcome such a large and outstanding class,” said Colby McCarthy, dean of enrollment.
McCarthy added, “Yielding a class of this size in such a challenging time for higher education is a testament to the quality academic programs and experiences that Drew has to offer. Sharing these opportunities and outcomes with prospective students and their families was accomplished through the tireless and amazing work across our Admissions, Athletics, and Communications teams. They were joined by faculty and staff across the University at our reimagined Discover Drew Days and Admitted Students Days, which had record-setting attendance.”
“Our new recruitment materials showcase the unique and authentic experiences and benefits of a Drew education in a fresh and appealing way,” added Margaret Kiernan, senior director of communications and University branding.
“We want to highlight the incredible and wide-ranging successes of our diverse community of students and graduates. We also focused on the role that Drew’s rigorous academics, experiences, and connections—emphasized through our Launch program—play in helping create these outcomes. We are thrilled that prospective students have responded so positively.”
The members of the Class of 2027 come from 28 states and 12 countries. Roughly six percent are international students.
The size of the class will continue to grow throughout the summer as more students across the country make their official decisions. Drew will also add to its overall student body with new transfer students. Recruitment efforts for transfer students are currently outpacing the University’s goals.
