Who we are
The publication of Ma parole! is the fruit of an intense collaborative work in Professor Marie-Pascale Pieretti’s Translation and Creative Writing class at Drew University in the Fall of 2020. For some, it was the result of the hard labor that is the study of the French language!
Ma Parole! follows in the footsteps of another Drew francophone publication, Mélanges, which focused entirely on poetry. It was published for several years thanks to Professor Deborah Hess and her poetry classes.
For the first issue of Ma parole!, on the theme of translation, the entire class participated in the creation of the project: concept, content writing, correction, layout, images as well as planning for the next publication.
Several editors will remain on the team for the call for contributions during the Spring 2021 semester, the selection of submissions, and the transition to our next next editorial team.
Our mission:
The goal of our publication is:
- To open up a permanent digital space on Drew campus for those who love to read and write in French
- To promote francophone cultures
- To seek out other fields of study by inviting students (whatever their majors) to publish in French on topics that are interesting to them
- To provide a space for free expression and promote the inclusion of ideas and talent on our campus
- To connect writing to other forms of expression (dance, theater, music, painting, film, graphic design, etc.)
